"O' Come Let Us Adore Him"

By Pastor Michael D. O'Neal
Gospel Light Baptist Church, Albany, GA

Text:  Matthew 2:2

Introduction:  The word, "adore," means to worship, to admire, and to be
extremely fond of.

The wise men came to worship Jesus!
Wise men STILL seek Him!
Wise men STILL worship Him!

Let us adore the Lord Jesus Christ!
Let us adore HIM -- not some rock musician!
Let us adore HIM -- not some politician!
Let us adore HIM -- not some preacher!
Let us adore HIM -- not some teacher!
Let us adore HIM -- not a movie star but the bright and morning star!

I. LET US ADORE HIM RIGHTLY

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in
spirit and in truth.

     A. Not JUST a gentle infant, but also
        the glorious INCARNATION!

     B. Not JUST a good man, but also
        the GOD-man!

     C. Not just a good teacher, but also
        God's TRUTH!

II. LET US ADORE HIM REPEATEDLY

Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast
left thy first love.

     A. As we live in His world, we should
        adore Him daily

     B. As we labor in His field, we should
        adore Him daily

     C. As we look for His return, we should
        adore Him daily

III. LET US ADORE HIM REVERENTLY

Mark 12:6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also
last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his
wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

     A. Let us give Him preference

        1. Giving His will first place

     B. Let us give Him praise

     C. Let us give Him preeminence

IV. LET US ADORE HIM RESPONSIVELY

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Let us respond in adoration:

     A. By loving His children

     B. By lifting our cross

     C. By living by His commandments
